After a very long break from dog shows, I found myself at the Boxer Club open show this morning. It seems that many of the same faces I used to see at shows 20 years ago are still very much involved. The show was held at Cannons Creek school in Pinelands on their lovely new sports field. An ideal venue and close enough from my house to walk. The dog show weather gods were smiling as it was perfect show weather – cool, cloudy without any wind. The sun even made an appearance later in the morning.
I entered my GSD, Asics in Agility (contact) for the first time and in Dog Jumping for the second time. He was the only GSD amongst all the Border Collies, Australian Shepherds and Beardies. I was thrilled to bits when he placed 3rd in agility and 2nd in dog jumping. Nerve racking but fun! Thanks to all the agility folk for the encouragement.
Our obedience competitors did really well. I didn’t manage to see everyone (do let me know if I missed your results) but I did see Casey won Special Beginners (Beginners without the retrieve) with her Pug, Dash. Natalie won Beginners with her Aussie, Enzo and Theo with his Lab, Mia came second. Yolande with her Tevuren Zoe came second in Novice Obedience. Patsy with her Yorkie Joey won Class B obedience. Our flyball team, Chain Reaction won first place too.
Well done to Michelle and her committee from the Boxer Club for a well run show. The show world just might be seeing a little bit more of me… maybe.
