Well done Megan!

SADAA and all the members who know Megan Kim North, would like to congratulate her on recieving this year’s Chancellor’s Medal, the highest honour the University can bestow on a student at last night’s graduation ceremony of the Faculties of AgriScience and Engineering. (Photo: Anton Jordaan)
Megan North has been a full-time student at Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of AgriSciences for the past four years and received her BSc Agric degree majoring in Animal Science with distinction. She was a dedicated, enthusiastic student and passed all her subjects cum laude, with an average of 88.4% over the four years of study.
Professor Ken Dzama, head of the Department of Animal Science, describes her as one of the best students that the Department of Animal Science has delivered in years. In 2012 Ms North received the Rector’s Merit Award for Excellent Academic Performance. In 2009 she was among the top 32 first-year students and throughout the course of her academic career, she was in the top 15% of academic achievers. She has also been a bursary holder of the Steenberg Trust since 2010.
However, it is not only on the academic front that Ms North excels. She is also a gifted dog handler and has been a registered member of the South African Dog Agility Association since 2002 as well as a coach at the Cape Province Dog Club. In 2007 she was invited to the 4th IFCS World Agility Championships. She is a nature lover who enjoys hiking, sailing and mountain biking.
